After taking out the filter paper of the six filter elements, you can see the difference at a glance, because except for the E oil filter, which has paper sealing covers on the top and bottom of the filter paper, the other five filter elements have metal sealing caps on the top and bottom of the filter paper. This also explains The reason why the E oil filter is the lightest in the previous test.

Basically, there is no glue overflow at all, while the B oil filter, D oil filter, and The F oil filter has obvious glue overflow. The magnified filter papers all looked the same, except that the fibers of the A oil filter looked thicker and thinner, while the fibers of the B oil filter looked thicker. Measure their filtration area

Finally, measure their filtration area. The measurement method is very simple. I use a vernier caliper to measure the width of each fold of the oil filter element, and then measure the length of each fold of the filter element. Then I can get the area of each fold, and then multiply it by two. It is the filtration area of one fold of paper. Finally, count the number of folds of the filter element to calculate the filtration area.

Theoretically, the larger the filtration area of the filter paper, the faster the filtration speed of the engine oil under the unit pressure per unit time, and the greater the dust holding capacity of the filter paper, so this is also a test of the machine filter’s durability and filtration effect. an indicator.

Of course, this is also related to the material and technology of the filter paper itself, so I just calculated the approximate value of the filter area for your reference only and will not evaluate the quality.

I won’t go into details about the process of counting. The filter paper of A oil filter has the largest filtration area, about 749.133 square centimeters. The filter paper of C oil filter has the smallest filtration area, only 583.681 square centimeters. However, the filter paper of C oil filter seems to be six types. The filter element is the thickest, so the filtering volume of the C oil filter should not be bad.

What surprised me was that the filter paper filtration area of the E oil filter reached 748.210 square centimeters, directly catching up with the A oil filter! Although it is cheap, the filter paper is the largest among the six filter elements. But the workmanship and sorting of the filter paper are relatively sloppy.

The oil filter bypass valve is a switch with a spring and a gasket at the bottom of the oil filter. Its function is when the engine is cold started, the oil viscosity is very high. The method of measuring the pressure of the bypass valve is very simple. First, measure the area of the iron plate of the bypass valve. So how do we choose the filter element suitable for our car based on this pressure value?

In fact, it is very simple. The advantage of high bypass valve pressure is to ensure that the engine oil is filtered through filter paper in more cases. Which ensures that the oil inside the engine is cleaner and extends the service life of the engine oil. There will also be less carbon deposits. However, the disadvantage is that the pressure of the bypass valve is relatively high. So if you suddenly step on the accelerator and drive violently. The bypass valve may not open and close in time. Resulting in a slight reduction in the engine oil supply in a short period of time, causing some additional damage to the engine. of wear and tear.

The advantage of low pressure in the bypass valve is that if the driving style is more violent. Then the low pressure of the bypass valve switch can ensure that in most cases.
